LSU-Alabama a BCS Championship Game Born in the South

December 15th, 2011 by admin

The LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide have met 75 times on the gridiron (‘Bama leads the series 45-25-5), but never before have these two SEC foes met with the national championship on the line! These two teams battled to a near-draw in LSU’s 9-6 epic overtime win on November 5th, and will meet again on January 9th at the Superdome to settle the score once and for all.

The Southeastern Conference has a tradition of dominance in the BCS Championship Game, having produced the last five BCS national champions. LSU is looking for its third BCS championship after defeating Oklahoma in the 2004 Sugar Bowl and Ohio State in 2007′s title game in New Orleans. The Crimson Tide are looking for their second championship in three years after whipping Texas in Pasadena in 2010.
